The film, for me it was unbelievable. First, the performance is great. Sean Penn is lost really in any role, and this is no exception. He is very fair at Harvey Milk, and is very good, good qualities and not so good qualities. Josh Brolin character makes it very easy to hate haha Dan White, but that's to be expected. The film is very good and combines the images of the past with the shooting, which is a nice gesture. All around, good direction, excellent quality, the overview. And the film has changed my life. I saw him in December, and as I was as a bisexual woman was caught not told my parents, and knew only a few friends. I saw the film, a good reputation and told my parents. It is truly inspiring and moving. A must.
It is totally transparent. If for no other reason, the quality is fantastic. The performances by Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emile Hersch, James Franco, and are all first class. To go beyond, is the story of Harvey Milk is very important in shaping the political landscape of homosexuals in the United States. It is particularly relevant today with all the discussion and outrage over the issue of gay marriage.
Although I can not say I loved the final outcome of the film, I recommend to anyone who films with compelling stories and high quality stands.
You should see it. The performance of each cast member was flawless and Sean Penn gives his best performance of his career 25 + years. Certainly one of the best films of 2008.
